What if I put extra money towards debt?

Hypothetical example: Your baseline has $250 remaining each month. You want to test putting another $150 towards debt.

  1. Duplicate the baseline scenario.
  2. Name it “Extra $150 to debt”.
  3. Set the scenario's extra debt payment to $150.
  4. Open Projections and compare the debt-free date and projected interest.

The calculator adds the extra amount to the snowball and carries released payments to the next debt.

Keep it honest: Leave $100 of the original $250 uncommitted if that is the breathing room real life needs. A faster projection is not useful if the monthly plan is too brittle to follow.
