Review the decision after you have lived with it

A decision does not have to be perfect to teach you something. Once you have lived with it for a while, compare experience with the assumptions you made.

Ask four useful questions

  • What happened roughly as expected?
  • What cost, benefit or feeling did I miss?
  • Which assumption now needs a better number?
  • What small adjustment would make this work better?

Update the current scenario if the change is now part of ordinary life. Keep the earlier version only if the comparison is still useful.

Tip: Review is not a trial where past you is the defendant. It is how present you gives future you better information.
