HomeUsing The Possibility CalculatorScenarios

How many scenarios should I create?

Create enough scenarios to compare the choices that are genuinely in front of you. For many questions, two or three is plenty.

A useful starting set

  • Current: what life looks like now.
  • Likely: the change you are seriously considering.
  • Cautious: the same change with less income or higher costs.

Give each scenario a name that says what is different. If two scenarios answer the same question with nearly identical numbers, you probably do not need both.

Tip: More scenarios do not automatically create more clarity. Begin with the smallest comparison that could change your decision.
